*Cyber world.

In the novel, The Revealers, the students of Parkland Middle felt connected through School Stream or as the students called it Kid Net where they were able to chat or instant message. Most of you do this nightly through MSN Messenger. With KidNet and MSN nobody could break into or eavesdrop on your conversation without it being known. Not anymore. Today’s technology allows you to assume the identity of another person. Do you really know whom you are talking to in the cyber world? It is 10:00 pm on a Wednesday night; you have finished your homework and you are chatting on MSN with three other friends. After 10 minutes two more friends ask to join the chat. By 10:30 pm five more people have joined and it is fun; however, there is a joke said about one of the people, rapidly followed by an insult. At first, no one knows how to respond, then seconds later a message pops up stating, “I didn’t say that! It isn’t me saying these things. Someone is using my name. What is going on here?”What is the issue involved in this scenario? Why is this serious? What would be a responsible way to handle this situation? How could a situation like this be resolved? How would one of the three main characters from The Revealers deal with this situation?

When the internet was first invented, i bet everybody was thrilled about the new creation.
...but how come now there are some people out there who wish the internet never existed?
We are living in a world where new ideas are being discovered all the time. The technology is growing rapidly. I'm afraid to say that some people out there have made something that was once so great and turned it into something horrible.
To me, the cyber world now is just like a complex puzzle. Should you trust it? Should you just ignore the signs and leave it? You never know who you are talking to, you never know what could happen. You are just left there to decide on your own... Are you gonna trust cyber world?

There are many issues involved in the scenerio. One, someone has said something in somebody else's name. Two, people are getting hurt. And three, you are just sitting there.
In the revealers, i think if this had happened... it would have just been ignored. Because bullying was normal at the parkland middle school, they were probably used it it-- they get bullied in the real world.. and cyber world too.
Using someone else's name and saying stuff is something serious because... someone might have hacked your account and the hacker has all the power to go into your emails and read all your personal stuff.

The most responsible way to handle this situation is to stop. Exit the conversation and get an adult. That way, you are not greatly involved and you are taking action.

The three main characters from the Revealers all have different personalities... Catlina is quiet, doesn't like to get involved, and even if she is hurt greatly.. she will not take any action-- type of person.
Russell is the action-reaction type of guy. His personality is like he will take action, get a reaction and solve the issue no matter what brings him down.
And Elliot.. well yeah.. he just wants revenge.

I think russell would've brought up the issue and somehow contact the person who was being hacked. Try to find who it was that hacked him.. and tried his best to solve the mystery.
Catlina, would've maybe exited the convo. And she would most likely keep quiet about it.
i don't know if i'm right or wrong but in my opinion.. Elliot would most likely think the person was bluffing about being hacked...-- To me he seems like that kind of character but then again, I'm not sure.

Accion-reaction!! I liked how you described how each different character would react differently to the situation. Totally great...trust me, you have talent.
